CO Detectors~~well worth the attention to detail
The CO Detector
OK, I know, it’s not really heating season in North Carolina. Our temperatures are still hovering in the 70’s and 80’s but a curious thing happened. One of our tenants phoned us to tell us that in the morning her carbon monoxide detectors were going off. Only the morning! We’re not in heating season yet?
I found the situation odd. So, we tried to troubleshoot the CO detector issue quickly. We sent our HVAC specialist into the house. He determined that the tenant was running her heat in the mornings and her gas furnace was pumping exhaust into her crawlspace causing her carbon monoxide detectors to sound an alarm.
I’m not saying we’re perfect, we are not. But in this case, I think my team did a great job. Not only did we protect our tenant’s health and well-being, but we protected our clients by ensuring that their property was compliant with North Carolina law regarding CO detectors.
